Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has withdrawn the petition he had filed over the non-issuance of a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) required for participation in international premier league tournaments, including the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The petition had been filed before the Colombo District Court, seeking an interim order compelling Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to issue the necessary clearance.
When the case was taken up today (April 23), attorney G. G. Arulpragasam, representing the petitioner, informed the court that, since several matches of the IPL season had already been completed, Thushara no longer wished to proceed with the application and sought permission to withdraw the case.
Accordingly, the court granted permission to withdraw the petition and dismissed the case.
Previously, Thushara had extended a formal apology to the SLC as well.
