Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday said that China and the United States should ensure the steady sailing forward of the giant ship of bilateral relations.
Chinese President Xi met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Busan, the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Xi said China’s development and revitalization goes hand in hand with Trump’s vision to “Make America Great Again,” adding that the two countries are fully able to help each other succeed and prosper together.
China and the United States should be partners and friends, and that is what history has taught both countries and what reality needs, Xi said.
Xi also said he is ready to continue working with Trump to build a solid foundation for China-U.S. relations and create a sound atmosphere for the development of both countries.
Meanwhile, President Trump has said that the US can sign a trade deal with China “pretty soon” following talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, he announced lower tariffs on Chinese imports and said the issue over US access to rare earths has been settled.
Trump also said he will visit China in April, and says President Xi will be coming to the US “sometime after that”, possibly to Washington DC or Palm Beach in Florida.
