All liquor outlets, meat shops, and fish stalls located along the roadside in the Kegalle District will remain closed for 03 days from April 24 - 26, in line with the ‘Ehipassiko’ Walk for Peace, the state owned 'Dinamina' reports.
The closure will apply along the main road stretch from Kadugannawa to Warakapola, where the peace walk route is expected to pass.
According to the report, the decision was taken by the District Coordinating Committee of the Kegalle District during a meeting held yesterday (April 22) chaired by Minister of Environment and Kegalle District Coordination Committee Co-Chairman, Dr. Dhammika Patabendi.
The meeting was held at the Kegalle District Secretariat with the participation of Sabaragamuwa Province Governor and Kegalle District Coordination Committee Co-Chairperson, Champa Janaki Rajaratne.
The Minister also stated that motorists using the Colombo–Kandy main road are being requested to refrain from sounding vehicle horns during the pilgrimage period.
