Lal Kantha's complaint against Hiru TV, to be considered today

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) says that the complaint lodged by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation - K.D. Lal Kantha against Hiru TV is scheduled to be considered today (April 23).

TRCSL Director General, Air Vice Marshal Bandula Herath (Retd.) stated that the final decision will also take into account the determination of the Ministry of Mass Media before it is officially announced.

The complaint was submitted by the Minister yesterday (April 22), requesting an investigation into alleged that Hiru TV has been continuously operating in violation of its frequency licence conditions.

It is alleged that the TV channel has seriously violated the terms of its broadcasting frequency licence issued by the TRCSL, as well as conditions under the licence issued by the Ministry of Mass Media.

Meanwhile, the Minister had also lodged a separate complaint on April 21 with the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media regarding the same matter.
