The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) yesterday (April 20) informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court that Ishara Sewwandi, who is the main suspect in the murder of alleged organized criminal figure “Ganemulla Sanjeewa”, will be further detained for 30 days for questioning.
CCD officers told the court that the suspect, identified as Pinpura Dewage Ishara Sewwandi, had already been detained and interrogated for 02 separate 90-day periods after her arrest overseas and subsequent repatriation.
They further stated that, as the detention period has now lapsed, steps have been taken to seek approval to extend her detention by an additional 30 days.
The CCD also informed the court that action has been initiated to obtain Interpol Red Notices to facilitate the arrest of 08 suspects of the case, who are currently overseas.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama directed the CCD to report progress on the ongoing investigations.
