CIABOC halts transfer of senior parliamentary admin officer

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has reportedly instructed the Secretary General of Parliament - Attorney-at-Law Kushani Rohanadeera, to immediately suspend the transfer of a senior officer attached to the Parliamentary Administration Department’s Establishment Division.

According to reports, the directive was issued as the officer concerned is a key witness in the ongoing investigation related to the former Deputy Secretary General of Parliament.

The officer had been reassigned to the Committee on Public Petitions with effect from April 20, following a decision by the Secretary General of Parliament.

However, CIABOC has instructed that the transfer be kept on hold until the completion of investigations.

The CIABOC has already commenced investigations into a complaint filed against the suspended Deputy Secretary General, as well as a separate complaint filed by him against the Speaker.

The former Deputy Secretary General has lodged a complaint, citing several allegations of corruption.
