A total of 50 foreign nationals have been arrested yesterday (April 21) by officers of the Investigation Division of the Department of Immigration and Emigration for overstaying their visas.
Officials said they had entered the country on business visas but had remained illegally after their visas expired.
The arrests were carried out at a residence in the Negombo area, following intelligence received by the department’s intelligence unit.
Among those arrested were 47 Chinese nationals, 02 Malaysian nationals, and an Indian national.
