International-level Sri Lankan para athlete Nuwan Indika secured a bronze medal yesterday (Oct. 02) at the 12th World Para Athletics Championship 2025.
Competing in the Men’s Long Jump (T44) event, Indika produced a leap of 6.46 metres, earning him the bronze medal. With this achievement, he became the first Sri Lankan athlete to win a medal at the ongoing championship.
The Sri Lankan contingent includes 04 male athletes and 01 female athlete.
The 12th World Para Athletics Championship 2025 is currently being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, India, from Sep.25 – Oct. 05.
